I am a huge fan of the Classic Gaming Expo and was very pissed that they moved it to California for the last few years. Good news: CGE is back in Las Vegas for July 28th and 29th. Bad news: it’s during the San Diego Comic-con (July 26 -July 29.)
This is going to be a difficult choice. Do I stay in Las Vegas and save lots of money but spend huge amounts of money on retro games or fork out the big bucks and go to San Diego for Comic-con? What do I love more: video games or comic books? I’ll have to see how my finances will be and what Mrs. Jango will let me spend. Just a hunch, I’ll be spending my time here in Vegas.
For those who have never been, The Classic Gaming Expo is the largest expo for retro gaming. There are lots of retro games and systems to play and buy. From rare protos to fan-made games, it’s a really cool geek fest. There are a few dozen retro arcades machines set on free play setup for you to spend your day. It sounds amazingly cool but it was quite small (well at least in 2k3 when I last went). I’m sure hope it grown more. It was in the Plaza Hotel & Casino at Downtown Las Vegas, but now the CGE will be held at the Rivera Hotel and Casino located right on the Strip. It’s a much nicer casino and hopefully the venue will be much larger.
I’m going to have to talk to the owner from Game Repair to see if he’ll donate his arcade machines for this years CGE and see what is involved to help the cause.
If you are into gaming at all, check out the Classic Gaming Expo. I hope to see some of you there. We’ll post more news when it becomes available.
