King Of Fighters Maximum Impact Regulation A will be SNK Playmore’s third attempt at another 3D KOF, but this time it will be an arcade release, using the Taito’s Type X2 PC-based hardware. Okay that means nothing to me, but whatever.Â
The official SNKP Blog (Japanese) has released the first images of the next King of Fighters that will hit the arcades, KOF A Maximum Impact Regulation A (not a mouthful, is it?). The new title uses Taito’s Type X2 PC-based hardware but even there the new KOF lags behind Sega’s Virtua Fighter 5 in terms of graphics

Okay, I’m a huge fanboy of almost anything SNK and I “enjoyed†the first KoF Maximum Impact on the PS2/Xbox and I still haven’t gotten around to picking up it’s PS2 sequel, but does the world need another 3D fighter from SNKP? I mean I really like the Hyper 64. The Samurai Shodown games were okay and the Fatal Fury: Wild Ambition was mediocre but Buriki One is the reason to have the Hyper 64 motherboard. Innovation was the key to this game. Using the joystick to attack and A & B to move was defiantly different and different is good when it come to the fighting genre. So am I excited about this newest update to the SNK 3D library? Meh.Â
King Of Fighters Maximum Impact Regulation A looks amazing, if we were back in 2001…
I know, graphics shouldn’t matter, but I thought SNKP was finally heading in the right direction with King of Fighter XI while fast pace flashy 2D gaming. I just don’t have much faith in SNKP’s 3D games. I really don’t have much faith in SNKP anymore.
While I’m not going to discount this newest King of Fighter, (just yet) I don’t have high hopes for SNKP’s next 3D entry.Â
