How to earn 30 lives on DIGG!

450px-konamicodesvg.png

Ok. That’s misleading. Recently pointed out in a digg of Contra 4 for the DS, entering in the Konami code while reading a Digg thread …..wait for it……. expands the threads!

It’s a bit off from the original code but: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Enter or Return if you’re on a <sigh>…..Mac.

So, yeah not all that exciting, but still a rousing testament not only to the life and penetration in all walks of life of the famous code, but the overall nerdiness of our common man.

Truth In Advertising, Finally! Though Love Is Over.

ps2-girlfriend-ad3.jpg

This may just be old news, mainly because the PS2 was sold over 100 years ago and I personally read an article that detailed the launch of the PS3 in India with a general pricing scheme that placed it at ‘a shitload of rupees’ and ‘are you fucking kidding me?’

So why are these two ads causing some interest?

Geometry Wars Redux: Wii & DS version

Geometry Wars is one of those really interesting back-lot success stories. A game that was coded as a hidden freebie ala the classic Easter Egg is discovered, salivated over and finally to the suprise of the original designers, suddenly warranting a purchase of the Project Gotham 2 which it’s hidden on.

Geometry Wars came as a pleasant surprise to many who played Project Gotham Racing 2 on the Xbox. The mini-game was accessible through the in-game garage, simply by walking up to the arcade machine and hitting the [A] button. The premise is simple; fly your geometric “ship” around the screen, avoiding the enemies whilst shooting them down for points. You start with a few lives, and are given a couple of bombs. More lives and bombs are gained the longer you survive, although the difficulty ramps up pretty quickly! Scoreboards on Xbox Live keep track of the best players, meaning the best in the world can step up and be counted.

This game was so popular that at the time I first heard of it, around the Halo 2 launch when I saw video of it being played 50 feet high on a Best Buy via projector, that demand hit a fairly fevered pitch. So cue the evolution, Microsoft then decides to offer a redone version called Geometry Wars: Evolved for download off the Xbox Live Marketplace, complete with exquisite new effects and graphics, and the original game included for that stalwarts.

Summer of Sequels

Bwuahaha
This picture has nothing to do with the article, I just really dig it and since Im driving in after work tomorrow, I found it fitting.

So I went a saw Die Hard 4 today. It wasnt complete crap, but it sure as shit didn’t live up to the Die Hard name. And I find that this seems to be the running trend of sequels this summer.

Lets reminisce…

Dead Man Tells A Joke

I was listening to the Howard Stern show today and one of Robin’s news story caught my ear. Patrick Knight, 39, was executed in Texas last Tuesday. He was put on death row when he was 23 when he murdered his neighbors, who complained that he was being too loud. Knight said [...]

Acid trip.

Yeah, so after much consideration I’ve decided to bring my super awesome self to the pineconeattack crew. I’m also bring much needed x chromozones to the mix…those who don’t understand that…it means I’m a chick. So in honor of my awesomeness, I give you the greatest acid [...]

Downtime…

At some point this week, I believe Wednesday, the site is going to be slow….. like PSP load-time slow. So break out your Pokemans and start booting up that Tandy computer, PCA is going on hiatus.

Bringing Us All Back-Te-Bebop-Boppaloo Together!

We all have differences here at PCA.

I personally happen to love FPS games beyond any reasonable doubt, no matter how bad they be, Jango collects a hideous amount of vintage toys and videogames to clutter up his Nerd Hole, Decepticreep has bought a PSP 3 [...]

So…

…there was a text messaging championship final in NYC.

the winner won $25,000.

a famous pro wrestler allegedly killed his wife, son and himself

Autobots Here To Save The Day!!!

tf-logo.jpg

So I was having a gander at Seibertron.com, looking for info at the up and comming movie, and I stumbled into this… a new Transformers cartoon to come out on Cartoon Network.

Cartoon Network has put out some great cartoons in the past, but I am scared. The Star Wars: Clone Wars was great, Powerpuff Girls was fun, and Justice League was one of my favorite shows to come out in a long time, but CN had a tendency to be very spacy when showing episodes with consistency.

Aside all that, the character design is wacky. I don’t understand what is going on in the minds of the cartoon producers. Optimus Prime has a Morgan Webb jaw. Now, I know character design isn’t everything, that’s why I was looking for info on the new movie in the first place. Hell, Beast Machine’s character design sucked. I’m trying to be open minded, but it’s difficult.
