Game of the Month: July

Metal Slug. Free!

Just a heads up. One of the better side-scrolling action games ever is currently up on GameTap for FREE until December 31, 2007.

That’s a hell of a long time for some downloadable goodness.

I think almost all of us own not only this game on the import PSX disc and if you’re Jango or me you even [...]

Week of 10/29: Halloween Theme Virtual Console Download

costume.jpg

Nintendo (who is forever coy)has released their horror themed Virtual Console this week for your Hallo-Wii-n.  Groan  Pick you poison: would you rather whip you way through Konami’s Action RPG hybrid in Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest, run through the 2 frames a second as a Samurai Ghost and kill the undead ronin Kagekiyo in a revenge quest or shape shift your way through and destroy the evil Gul-Agieze as the last Magician Lord.  The mediocre choice is yours!

Another Awesome Comic from VG Cats

There’s so many stall webcomics out in the internets but I always find VG Cats to be a breath of fresh air. Check out this weeks comic. I found this very pertinent to my current [...]

Mr Rogers with the Arbiter and Donkey Kong

The coin collector is Keith David who voiced the Arbiter in Halo 2 and 3. I always find it neat to associate a face with a character’s voice.

Jango’s Orange Box Impression.

Okay, Half Life 2: The Orange Box is single handedly the greatest deal in modern gaming (the worst box art too) and my stupid jaded ass was resistant, at first, to Valve’s wit and whole some awesomeness that is Half Life 2 (Episode 1&2), Portal and Team Fortress 2. This disc has removed the bitter taste of disappointment that was Half Life 2 on the big black monstrosity that was the original Xbox.

The gaming icon that defined to a generation of what a modern day FPS should play like, the original port for the Xbox and PS2 proved to me that graphical power house FPS should never be ported to a weak ass home console. So with that in mind, when I heard of rumors of Valve being displeased (more like embarrassed) with the Xbox/PS2 ports of Half Life 2 and was looking into the newer hardware, my interest was piqued.

I was more or less on board with the Orange Box but after a while I just lost complete interest with the games. Long delays or just hearing Tenno ranting about how awesome Half Life 2’s gravity gun is and how amazing Raveholm stage is; something clicked in my head and I was instantly turned off. Maybe it’s the cynical gamer inside of me but I just quit caring. Yeah, yeah the atmosphere is notable but hearing the rants of fanboys didn’t do much towards my excitement for the almighty Orange Box.

Week of 10/22: Crap, Crap and Not Crap

I pulled on call this weekend and my sleep schedule is all messed up so instead of my usual banter, I’m being lazy today so here’s Nintendo’s press release.

Lunar Pool® (NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): Lunar Pool takes the historical game of billiards and reinvents it with a unique [...]

Guitar Hero III Sightings

A GameFAQ‘er saw this Guitar Hero III just chillin (like a villain?) on the shelves of a local Sams Club…a whole week early!

They brought it up to buy and the Sams Club POS system denied the sale. Awwwww…

My only question is, why is Genji in a protector case and all of the better games [...]
