Movie Review: Indiana Jones 4
I’m a bit surprised none of the other writers here on PCA decided to do a review on this movie. For God’s sake, we’ve had two different reviews for Iron Man! Well anyways, I’m not really going to do a review. I’ll bet most of the readers have already seen this movie and made up their own opinions. What I am going to do is post a picture from a deviant art member, by the name of Jolly Jack that perfectly describes the movie. Enjoy!

-_- probably because I nixed the idea of posting movie reviews on here, vehemently.
Whatevs lol.

so why is there a movie review section? why dont we just change our site’s name to kotaku jr? would seem more appropriate.

thats exactly what I said…Decept
I thought this was a geek site for geeks by geeks that encompasses everything that appeals to your inner nerd.
but if you guys just want to do “games only” that’s your prerogative, but I don’t think I have to tell you that theres 34794265634 websites that do just “games only” and lack any other depth
June 1st, 2008 at 10:28 am
i agree, x, i agree
June 1st, 2008 at 10:43 am
not to mention we don’t even have the resources like the other 34794265634 sites

Here’s an SAT analogy that nicely sums up my thoughts about the movie.

Maybe if the writers here gets off their asses and actually you know write about what they’re passionate about them maybe Tenno wouldn’t vehemently complain.
June 3rd, 2008 at 12:46 pm
wah wah wah… other sites pay their writers, so all we have to motivate us is passion. and we are passionate about a lot of other geeky things, not just games
June 3rd, 2008 at 5:07 pm
Yeah well tell that to Destructoid’s writers.
You don’t write enough to warrent payment.
Oh, I went there…
June 4th, 2008 at 12:34 am
so you admit you want us to be destructoid, and not a unique site.
June 4th, 2008 at 7:58 am
Yes, I want a site that has writers that contributes. What is your defination of a unique site? From your posts it seems like you want to be a Youtube clone. But wait! You don’t even make you own videos.
June 4th, 2008 at 8:53 am
I at least try and put forth some effort to make an interesting and unique post. Do I get lazy at times? Of course. I only post news articles that I think you guys would find some value out of it. I write review on games that I think you guys should try out. And I write walkthrough like fixing Atari paddles and replacing batteries so I can contribute my meager bit of knowhow for the internets.
I strongly believe on trying to keep the main focus on 2 things. Focus the site on video games and trying to create a Local Las Vegas “feel”. This site is my hobby and I’ve asked each and every one of you guys here to write for this project because I think each and every one of you have something interesting to contribute.
I don’t see a real problem with posting deviation from the main focus of this site as long as you remember that Pineconeattack is primarily a geek nerd site that focuses mainly on all of our common interests which is gaming.
If you are going to post an article about a movie then convince me (without spoilers) why I need to watch or avoid this flick. Don;t just say, it good and check out this guy’s review. I want to know how did it make you feel? Why should I care about your opinion?
I don’t mind this post. Actually I find it to be funny and the picture speaks a thousand words. All I am asking for is that you put some forth a little effort instead of “Here’s a video because it’s funny” or “I like Weezer.”
I don’t care about posting interesting little tidbits about movies, toys and soundtracks, just remember that the site’s main focus is gaming (arcade, console, PC, pinball, board games, chess, whatever…) Here’s a rundown on everyone. If you feel we need to make changes, let me or Tenno know. My email is Pineconeattack (at) Gmail (dot) com and tenno’s is Tenno (at) Pineconeattack (dot) com
As far as I see it these are the reason why you were ask to write for this site:
Tenno is the smarmy artist snob who care about soundtracks, PC gaming and FPS with weaboo tendencies but that alright because he writes funny interesting articles. (And he’s the web dude so, well you know.)
Decepticreep is the toy collector who only has time for main stream games like Halo3 and GTA IV but prefers portable gaming. He also dabbles in comics. I would love to read his opinion and reviews on game compilations and reasons why you think portable RPGs are better than their console counterpart. or at least give me a comic book suggestion post
Xenojive is the angry quirky gamer who has the minority taste in games like wrestling games and a fetish for the Japanese culture and comic books but that’s okay. I enjoy his angry rants especially when it’s about the mindless sheep that are his gaming customers. I want more weird games that i know you are into. i want more.
Ancientflounder has become the local MGS nut who, for a guy with no ride, gets around town and post funny rants about pinball players. Still a noob as far as the site is concerned, he pulling his weight and bring a good mix of interesting tidbits of variety. Even though it’s mostly Metal Gear related, lol.
Baldy is the movie critic who needs to write more. What I want to read is his obsession with his PC games.
Yunie is the girl gamer who only posts videos. I want to know about her love of Zelda and Final Fantasy. What I really want to see is her game related art sculptures.
Jangofatt (ME). I know I tend to be long winded in my articles but hopefully you come out learning a thing or two. My main passion is retro games and I prefer to play 8-16 bit platformers than anything on the current gen console. I also suck as a writer.

Wow.
Well, for those readers I know we have, here’s a classic example of brotherly angst, ripped straight from the annuals of Romulus vs. Regus, building trenches and mounting hills for Rome.
Well whatever, we’ve gone over this before guys -though never in passive-aggressive flame war on the site. For the most part, we (Me and Jango) wanted this site to be primarily about gaming. Yes at first our interests were much broader, but we narrowed it down since it’s impossible to have an audience is the audience never knows what to expect. In fact I know that I personally went over this with various people before. As far as paying people, come on. You write because you have the wherewithall to do so, or the desire to make people laugh.
Yes. Both me and every one of you have stepped aside from the idea of the site, posting nonsense memes, wacky videos or for some weird reason: Las Vegas commercials that only a person in Las Vegas would get. No biggie, make me laugh, that’s all I care about. But I do wish to avoid just blase reviews of movies, especially when we had two in a row for some reason. And the reason we have a ‘Movie Review’ section, well, it’s not a section, but a tag, but whatever, I’d have to assume at some point someone added that into the tags. Which is easy, I debated erasing it, but I kinda figured you all would just laugh the tag off or use it for the gaming stuff, since I had gone over that I really didn’t want movie reviews on every blockbuster on here. ‘King of Kong’ absolutely I’d want a review of that, its gaming related and better yet, arcade related since half of us own arcade machines, ‘Iron-man’, well yeah if you tie into how once again a great movie is followed by sub-par game and the history of such things.
Do you see where I’m going with this?
If anything, this is my fault for not being more stringent about where we wanted to go with this, narrowing the niche as it is. Again, I went over this last time, which was refreshingly off the site, and even the time before which was deleted when it shouldn’t have been.
I know there’s a ton of sites out there that focus exclusively on games, if anything, I’m trying my best to keep us away from them, I don’t care about being popular, I don’t care (and I should, more than any of you since I’m the one designing and fixing anything and everything when it breaks) about money or advertising and I’m the poorest of our group, barely breaking the national median for poverty. I certainly don’t care about competing with sites like Destructoid or Kotaku or any of those. That’s impossible without serious resources and time and primarily focus. It’s ridiculous to even cite such things. Though, yes, Destructoid (which I love) started as bunch of friends who just wanted to write about their passion, and look where it got them. Awesome yes? And hell, if any of us had put that much effort into this place, we could rival it in ways, sure. Everyone would have to bite the bullet and put up with stiff criticism, proper grammar and a modicum of professionalism, yeah, and spend some real fucking time on it though.
Sounds like work, yes?
DO NOT WANT!
But if you put that much effort into your articles, and I mean articles, not a sentence or two saying, ‘Yurp, I lurve dis!’, then by all means, I’m behind you and I’ll toss in a reach around for free.
If anything, and hell I’m off point here by now, it’s ridiculous to argue this on here of all things… you see each other every week. Except you Baldy, you’re by and large free of criticism (hah, large) since you’re doing the same thing you always do, so ignore all of this. I’d rather you all just stick to the original tenant of the site: covering shit people might not know about. I’d much rather you post one thing a week I never knew, than 50 things I’m going to see in Kotaku, Destructoid, Girl Gamer, Gay Gamer, or whoever. There’s no point. Write about how you guys like the PSP because you leave it in the bathroom, write about how the mother fucking RZA just launched a Wu-Tang orientated pay-chess site of all things, write about the irony of paying for Baldy’s Xbox so we could play online with him but never did, just write about the customers who come in bat-shit insane for the most horrible games imaginable, write more about those pin-ball players and how none of us knew the reason that place was full of hipsters and kids was because there was a rave at the dollar theater, write about the Sonic statue that was defaced or how the best arcade in Las Vegas is in the shittiest, most run-down hotel / crack den in town, write about whatever….. just not what we’re going to see on every other site out there.
And keep the rest of the arguments off the site, please. 0_0 Though this was great fun to read and or write when I heard about it this morning.
If you got any questions, call me, you all have the number.
tl;dr: Yadda yadda effort…

Oh and for Tony and anyone else that reads this site, just like old times right? Hahahah!
June 4th, 2008 at 10:42 am
Well Tenno, it’s on the 2nd page now so no worries.
June 4th, 2008 at 11:09 am
0_0 I know you and Decepticreep too well. Ripples in the pond MAH BOI…
June 5th, 2008 at 10:35 am
blah blah blah. Tenno, you could have just narrowed your novel of a comment to one simple sentence, “I’m the master of my internet universe, and if you don’t like it, leave!” Because that’s what it feels like. You asked us to write about our passions, but gaming is only a part. You suck out all of the fun in this site, Captain William Bligh.
June 5th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
You usually reserve that statement for Jango, so I’ll just assume you thought the above came from him.
You’re also so damn serious all the time. I’m getting you the same anger management oil I got your brother.
