Looks like there will be some interesting new games coming out and the future looks even brighter for Nintendo. Here’s a quick rundown of the E3 announcements.
- Shaun White’s Snow Boarding. It’s a snowboarding game that uses the Wii Fit balancing board
- Animal Crossing for the Wii has been confirmed. The gameplay will be as casual as ever and this time you will be entering into the city. You can play with up to 4 Friends simultaneously. To be released this winter
- Wii Speak has been announced. This is Nintendo’s answer to the headset. This device looks to sit on top of the sensor bar. I still don’t understand how this would work. I would think the sensor would pick up a lot of ambient noise from around the room and perhaps loud surround systems. This device was shown working with Animal Crossing.
- Wii Sports Resort was announced. This game will come with the Wii MotionPlus attachment and it actually looks like a blast to play, especially the Kendo sword matches using the 1:1 interface.
- Wii Music will be a big peripheral-less music game where you can “play†up to 50 instruments. The Drums set uses the Wiimote with the MotionPlus and nunchuck attachment as the drum sticks and the Balancing Board as the base peddle. It looks interesting but it seems to lack any real skill to “play†this game. This looks to be the game for the whole family who lacks timing and precise rhythm.
The conference was interesting but I was a little disappointed that a new DS hasn’t been announced. It makes sense since the sales of the DS hasn’t slowed down yet and the DS light is still a sexy handheld, but the consumer whore inside me really wanted a big widescreen DS to play on. Oh well.
Also no news about the rumored Kid Icarus game. Hmmm…
All in all, nothing mind shattering.
