Just Kidding.

Unless you’re really into the Street Fighter canon (I really do hate that word that why I misspelled it, lol) you probably don’t have an idea who Gouken is. Well let me give you a crash course in Street Fighter history 101.

Gouken is Gouki’s (Akuma here in the States) older brother and Gouken also so happen to be the former master of Street Fighter duo: Ryu and Ken. Gouki killed his brother in combat before the Alpha/Zeros series because Gouki was a power hungry dick. So how does he come back in SF IV? Who cares, I never really considered fighting game back stories to hold much water when it comes to continuity. Hell, I seen Charlie/Nash get killed off several times during the Alpha/Zero series so whatever.

So in this month’s issue of Famitsu, there’s a lovely scan of Gouken not to be mistake for as Sheng Long. Sheng Long was a bad mistranslation of Sho-ryu which roughly means “rising dragon” or just simply his dragon punch. The mix up was from the mistranslation of Sho-ryu from Japanese to Chinese pronunciation. If Capcom makes Gouken into Sheng Long, I’m going to be pissed because that stupid April Fool’s joke from the ’92 issues of EGM just needs to go away and die.

Since I on the topic of street Fighter IV, check out the new game covers for the North American release. I think we got lucky with the better Chun Li cover. Now our mate’s over the pond in Europe got the shaft with an ugly Ryu cover. Both mind you, sort of suck. I need to keep my eyes open for the Japanese PS3 game because I still haven’t found 100% confirmation that there will be an option to turn off the English dialog in Street Fighter IV. If that simple option is not in the North American release, then I’ll have to be force to import this bad boy on the PS3.

Or be like this hardcore nut job below.

I’m sorry, I love Street Fighter but there is no fucking way in hell will I ever spend $6,000 (after market price, BTW) for the Taito Type X2 motherboard with Street Fighter IV game. No game is worth that sticker price. Dude, I can almost by a Hyundai for that price! I had my reservation to spend almost $150 for my Super Street Fighter II Turbo, and I know I loved that game! Dude, if you are going to go through the trouble of importing the board, at least clean up the cabling because it would be a terrible shame if someone trips on the cabling and pulls your monitor and motherboard towards the ground thus destroying six grand…

This current arcade hardware has gotten way too ridiculous in term of pricing and the only benefit of having this motherboard setup is having the e-cred to play it before anyone else. And since home console can now play perfect arcade ports (with badass joystick), why spend the thousands of dollars on the strip down arcade version? Why not put it into an arcade so you can recoup some of your money back???

With that being said, I wouldn’t mind owning this setup assuming the prices takes a nose dive like the Atomiswave hardware and I can pick up this game and setup for under $500.00. That’s a bit more reasonable for the collectors market, in my opinion. I know there some great games coming out for the Taito Type X2 like King of Fighter XII and maybe Metal Slug HD.

(Sigh) Until that day happens in 5-10 years, I’m looking forward to my current gen port with my badass joystick getting my ass handed to me online and being told I’m a faggot by 12 year olds. Ah, isn’t “next gen” gaming wonderful?
