Game Overture: Suikoden

Being all caught up with errands and other annoying weekend crap, I had most of Sunday to kick back and rock out for some ME gaming time. I didnâ€™t have any obligations to jump online with anyone so since I foolishly erased my data years ago, I decided to continue on with my second play through of Suikoden, mainly because I never got around to starting the sequel and I heard the game save transfers over to Suikoden II, so why cheat myself the complete experience.

As Iâ€™m coming closer to the end of the game, I began to finally relax due to the grinding sessions are calming but mainly because this has got to be one of the best damn soundtrack for the PlayStation era. You get this epic feel out of the world theme and it makes you get all pumped up to just to over throw the established totalitarian government. I forgot how fun this game was and now Iâ€™m hunting down a copy of this soundtrack.

Compared to the â€œalmightyâ€ Final Fantasy VII, I feel this original soundtrack blows the shit out of it due to sheer originality and actually sounding like real instruments. The medieval sounds from the flutes to tambourines, it makes me want to get off my fat ass and do to the fuckinâ€™ Irish jig. Everything is perfect. I played through 4 hours straight and not once has the music annoyed me whch says something since when I ‘m tired i get real nitpicky and cranky.

Freaking out about video game music never my forte and I usually leave soundtrack glomping to Tennoâ€™s blabbering, but I just have to say that gamers need to first hunt down this game assuming Sony will never re-release this title for North America, then play through it. After appreciating this awesomeness of this game, download the OST and rock out Otaku style. Excuse me now while I go on the bit-torrent hunt for my copy of this soundtrack.

I finished Suikoden a couple of weeks ago, and it really was amazing for its time. Great soundtrack and a good storyline to boot. I’d love to start on the second installment, but that’s an extremely expensive find.

So I am told, but luckily I bought my copy or Suikoden II at the swapmeet for $30 back when nobody cared about PS1 RPGs.
