Obtaining Snatcher; or “How I had no problem spending $100″

For whatever reason, my roommate and I ended up at the WalMart Supercenter on Russell and Eastern, near the airport.  After dicking around in there and having the customer service counter refusing to cash his Hilton paychecks, we decided to hit up the Game Haven that is in the same shopping center.  Never heard of it?  Not terribly surprising, considering they are a small chain and the location we went to is the only one in town.  Hell, I think it is the only location in the state.  Anyway, we’ve been here once before, where I found a couple of CIB Genesis games for cheap so we figured it was worth checking out.  They seem to have less old stuff these days and were sadly lacking in the Genesis controller department.  But, I spied something in their glass case…it was a copy of Snatcher on Sega CD.

Now, it’s really not the rarest game, but it is rather uncommon and fetches a pretty high price when it shows up.  The particular copy that I was looking at was $99.99, which isn’t too bad when most copies go from $120 and up.  It was at this moment that the possibility of buying it entered my mind.  ‘Hey, tax time is coming up, so we can pay it off later.’  I asked the dude behind the counter to pop it out real quick, so I could take a look at it.  The case looked a bit scuffed, but not bad overall.  After seeing the condition the manual and game disc were in, though…’Ring it up, man’ was all I could muster.  I normally wouldn’t spend that much on something, but come on, it’s fucking Snatcher.  Plus, for the price, it’s in extremely good condition.  The manual is nice and minty and the disc itself seems to be free of pretty much any defects.

(Sorry for the shit pic quality; I seriously need to buy a camera)

We headed over to Game Repair to see if Sean had any Sega CD’s in stock, since my roommate owes me a Christmas gift and this was the perfect time to cash in on that.  It’ll be a couple days, since Sean needs to test out some of the ones he has to make sure they are in good order, but at least he had some Genesis controllers I could get off of him.

Time to check this one off of my list.
