Let me start this off saying I’m a huge DC fanboy, so I finally got a stick up my butt and decided I wanted this game. I was watching trailers for the new Batman: Arkham Asylum on YouTube and then eventually transitioned to watching Rooster Teeth’s videos on the Mortal Kombat Vs. DC’s fatalities. The fatalities looked cooler to me than I had originally thought, then… I wanted the game.
The only problem was, I didn’t want to spend $60 dollars on the game. Luckily for me, Yunie happened to have two copies of this game. My grandma gave me Little Big Planet for Christmas, but after like two hours playing it, I knew this game wasn’t for me. (Sorry grandma, I knew this was on my Amazon list but… hey, at least I traded it for a game that I play) Yunie suggested that we should trade, and I agreed.
I haven’t really played a Mortal Kombat game since MK II, so I had no expectations for this game. I have to say, I really like this game. I have fun playing it. It actually plays like a 2-D fighter. There’s two modes in single player: arcade and story. Arcade is your typical arcade style fighting game. In this mode, you can perform fatalities. What’s cool about arcade mode is you can play either all MK characters, DC characters, or mixed from both worlds. The endings in arcade mode is weak, though. It shows a picture of the character that you beat the game with and a little story. It always seems to me that when the announcer reads the end story, he never finishes a thought. Your always like… and? For example:
Story mode is actually pretty neat too. The story mode was actually written by a comic book author. Both MK and DC modes shows 1/2 of the stories and only when you beat both stories do get the whole picture. It also explains why Superman can’t just going around and popping people’s heads off. Outer-realm and the DC universe are starting to merge in the same time and space. It’s all because of the magic of Dark Khan, a combination of Dark Seid and Shao Khan. Of course, aside from kryptonite, the only other thing Superman is susceptible is magic. Hence, he’s not as strong as he should be.
This was also my first next-gen fighting game that I played online. I have to say, this game has no lag online. I have the game on the PS3 so to me, that’s even that much more impressive. Wombat from CheapAssGamer.com felt that this was his most disappointing game of 2008, but I have to disagree. I think this game is silly, but way too much fun. It seems that this game gets an average score of 7.5 but i have to totally disagree with the score. It deserves at least 7.6.

ahaha…’Vagina punch’. Oh, catwoman, you bitch. This game is a lot of fun. People were being just way too picky about it. Wombat is a crybaby..;)
Littlebig planet is super amazing, thanks again for it. I’ll be writing a review about it when I finish the story mode.
Hey, I’m just glad it’s not going to waste. At my house, it was just collecting dust! Thank you for mortal kombat vs dc.
In all honesty, it does look like a fun game to play with friends. I’m still disappointed they messed with the Joker’s fatality like that, but at least the rest look pretty cool.
Still bummed about no Green Arrow, though. :/
