Pineconeattack Presents: Pinekast #17 Punch Out!! Baby!

pinekast_17 This week’s episode dealt with Punch-Out in all it’s incarnations…. I think. I haven’t had a chance to even hear the new show yet due to me just getting back a day late from San Francisco. Had a chance to go see Nine Inch Nails backstage and get out of town and all in the name of charity. The charity has already raised over $670,000.00 to get a local guy a heart transplant, so I’d say that’s some good charity work right there. The rest of my time was escaping the confines of computers, Internet and video gaming for a time and actually, you know, wandering around somewhere that isn’t Vegas. Great times. So, back to the fore!

Punch-Out is a game i have never even played, so I can’t even give you guys an humorous anecdotes on it, but I’m pretty sure the majority of you guys have some very fond memories of playing one of Nintendo’s most beloved series. A game in fact that both Jango and Decepticreep prattle on about almost anytime we talk classic games. Shit be real thick if you ask me. Tight like mice. Needless to say; this series is very well loved and covered in detail this week by the usual crew. An ever increasing crew even. We grow like sexy mold my friends.

So tune in as the PCA crew waxes philosophical on the awesomeness that is Punch-Out!

  1. Jangofatt says:

LOL, it looks like NIN’n the gang is also irritated by Tenno’s presence. “Just focus on the camera and ignore the spaz that’s right next to us”

I’m glad you had fun Tenno.

  2. Tenno says:

Nah, they were cool about it and laughing.

  3. Macc says:

I’m surprised there was no reference to the pseudo Punch Out sequel, Power Punch 2. Gonna have to hit up the PHoF soon and get in some Punch Out. Plus good call picking up a copy of Penguin Wars.

  4. B’oh, we did miss out on Power Punch 2 and the recently released beta for that when it still had Mike Tyson in it.

  5. Jangofatt says:

I wouldn’t say we missed out on Power Punch II since the game was horrible, plus the majority of the crew was under the weather so meh.

  6. Macc says:

Does the Power Punch 2 beta also have Don King still in it?

  7. Jangofatt says:

Yes, Don King and Tyson’s ex wife

  9. Decepticreep says:

i just find it funny that theres no power punch 1

  10. Macc says:

It is kinda weird, but I think the deal was that Nintendo originally backed the game and it was going to be Mike Tyson’s Punch Out 2, but then the whole Tyson rape thing happened, Nintendo pulled out, and left the developer with a completed game they really had no license to. So they took out all the Tyson references, slapped a new name on it to imply it was a ‘sequel’ to another similar game, and unleashed its wrath on the unsuspecting public to make back their money.
