This week we took a look at our favorite Western (genre) based video games; from the gunslinging action of GUN to the controversial but always fun Sunset Riders. So sit a spell, pull up a log and listen to us sing you a song about open spaces, varmints and whiskey.

I totally turned Fable into a “Western” game by buying cowboy looking crap for my character and loading a bunch of Cowboy Bebop, Trigun & old west TV show themes on my Xbox.
Sorry I couldn’t be there for the show, but it was good times anyway. Though I have to mention that a little show called “Substance TV” covered Wild Guns awhile back:

Good stuff old Wild Guns. And yea, God Hand had its’ issues, but I’ve played and beat the game about 4 times now. I love that game to death and once you get a hang of how to control things, it’s a blast.
As far as Clover goes, they are around still, though I’m not sure how many of the original members were retained, under the name “Platinum Game”. Why they choose such a lame name is beyond me.
Huh, no shit. I totally missed episode #2.
Co-title of this podcast: “Racism and Great American Literature.”
I also want to make mention of the fact that I very much enjoy Sunset Riders. Just found out, too, that it has another spiritual sequel (aside from Moo Mesa) called Mystic Warriors that involves ninjas instead of cowboys. Pretty sweet game, too.

Yeah Mystic Warriors is an awesome game that game out right when the US arcade scene was dying down so not many people got to try it, but its up there (for me at least) as one of the top Konami arcade beat um ups. I mean it has a ninja snowboarding level!
