PCA vs. CGE!

Last weekend we had a chance to stop by the newly invigorated Classic Gaming Expo – a glorification of everything retro, retroesque or just plain classic in video gaming. Though this means we saw way more Pacman shirts then we normally do…

Tenno goes to EVO… Day 2

HERE BE EVO!

So I went to EVO for about an hour.

Yup. Just one. And for a bunch of you, you’re probably all like, ‘Whoaaaaaa there Tenno! You were at the gaming Mecca of Las Vegas! You fricking live there even! WHAT THE! HELL!’

Hey baby, I’m a rolling stone. And by that I mean that even aside from all that awesome gaming on hand, I just am not that big of a fighting game guy to geek out properly at events like this. Literally I was melting the second I walked in -Hey Caesar’s Palace! A little A/C here! – and already ready to go. This shit just isn’t for me.

Pictured: Shit that isn't for me.

'Otomedius Excellent' Looks To Be Coming Here!

A sequel of Otomedius Gorgeous looks to be making an appearance States side based off of this forum post. Of course, Famitsu also has some screen shots confirming the upcoming sequel and while the original Otomedius wasn’t the most visually impressive shooter that  took advantage of the Xbox 360 hardware, it did a good [...]

Lovely Lolita: DeathSmiles Review

I’ll never claim to be the world’s greatest shooter fan but I do have a soft spot for them. It’s that one genre that I’m not very good at but I can see small incremental improvements in my score which acts as that dangling carrot to keep me motivated. Shoot ‘em ups have proven to be that perfect genre to get my gaming fix within my busy schedule. Even with a variety of shmups in my collection,  I’ve never really got into bullet hell shooters, finding them to be a too overwhelming and chaotic for my tiny brain to process. It seemed like I was doomed to never enjoy that next level of shooters: until I discovered a beginner’s bullet hell that also has a strange gothic lolita theme.

Xbox 360 Ketsui: Kizuna Jigoku Tachi Extra Trailer

After the pathetic port of DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou Black Label EXTRA, developing house 5pb will take another whack at Cave’s bullet hell niche with Ketsui: Kizuna Jigoku Tachi Extra. While I am sceptical at best, I decided to take a leap of faith and reserve my copy this morning. (Gotta justify my JPN [...]

Espgaluda 2 Comparison Photos

So my limited edition of Espgaluda 2 finally arrived today and boy is this box stupid big. The limited edition comes with the limited edition faceplate (duh) and a soundtrack which can also be found inside the first run standard editions as well. I’ll probably keep my limited edition seal for now as the standard edition will be the last region free Cave shooter to be released and there there is no reason to open it up as of the moment since I’m playing on a JPN Xbox 360 at the moment.

I’ll cut to the chase: I pulled a Tenno and bought another copy of an overpriced game… for a faceplate.

Huh, no shit? Espgaluda II is kind of Region Free!?

After going on and on about how there is no chance in hell Cave is going to make Espgaluda II region free this close to the game’s release, I was mostly proven wrong. A quick blurb over at Kotaku shows a quote from Cave producer Makoto Asada that states which version is actually region [...]

UPDATE: Bad News for Espgaluda 2

Bad news for you Cave fans out there with an American Xbox 360, it looks like Espgaluda 2 will NOT be region free, based on this post over at Neo-Geo.com.

A part of me is happy that it is not region free since it adds more value to my recent purchase of an imported Japanese Xbox 360, [...]

Mushihime-sama Futari 1.5 DLC is live.

For those who picked up the region free Mushihime-sama Futari 1.5, would be happy to hear that the Black label DLC is now live and active.  The black label DLC will cost 1,200 MSP space bucks.  What I’m not sure, as of this moment, is if the DLC will be available for purchase though a US [...]
