Game of the Month: July

Over coming my CPS3 fears…

One of the greatest advantages of being a cab owner is that you, on rare occasion, find stealer deals on arcade hardware and boards that are so damn tempting, you jump on them before thinking. I have this rule that I for the most part follow religiously: DO NOT suicide boards.

I have a nice collection of [...]

Review: Which Joystick Should You Get?

With fighting fever at an all time high and EVO 2010 is just around the corner, I have been receiving numerous emails asking the same question:

“Which joystick should I get?”

Now instead of constantly repeating myself I figure it would be a perfect time to break down the four more common easily attainable joysticks that you can easily find in North America. I don’t want to bog down this list with the plethora of Chinese, Korean & Japanese exclusive joysticks and variants because most of you probably have no care about them. I’ve broken down the list into three categories of cheap, moderate and expensive that can easily be found on Amazon, Game Stop or whatever domestic gaming shop and I hope this article will answer most of your questions and will help you on your way towards that perfect stick.

What would you do with a broken PSX?

You turn it into a shaving kit shelf course!

So when the pins to the PSX power supply was destroyed, my brother-in-law gutted the console and mounted it to the wall and uses it everyday, turning his gaming console into usable art.  Great consoles never die, they just no longer get played.

Granted, when I told my brother-in-law [...]

Awesome Left 4 Dead Poster Mod

Remember the kick ass Left 4 Dead prints that Valve released for the original L4D?

Well a kick ass unnamed ex Las Vegan blogger decided to frame them but gave his poster collection a bit more ‘Zazz’ by using a Dexter Mat Cutter, mat boards and sculpting chisels to simulate the crinkled edges of poster on through [...]

Game Boy Super Hard Drive

Got a busted, old toaster Game Boy?  Do something with it like the guy that made this:

Even after fooling many, sadly, it isn’t playing any games.  The modder put a sticker on the screen and moved the LED on the drive up to the battery light area.  It’s only an 80 GB drives, as the screen [...]

Madcatz Tournament Fight Stick Review & Upgrades

The Madcatz Tournament fight stick is probably the best joystick I ever had the pleasure of owning. It’s really nice to have all of the necessary parts already included with the joystick and the lack of upgrading is almost worth the $150 price tag. The only part I need to swap out was the shitty square restrictor plate with the octagonal restrictor one but besides that minor upgrade, this stick is straight badassery right out of the box.

BotCon ’09: The Toys

botcon09-2

I learned one thing this year at BotCon is that Hasbro is making beaucoup bucks on the Transformers toy-line. There was enough little plastic robots to make my head spin. There were people from all ages to gather in the awesomeness that is Transformers and surprisingly, everyone was cool and friendly but I’m not sure having the Pasadena PD as security guards may have had a little to do with that. Crazy Californians.  Continue reading BotCon ’09: The Toys
