Pineconeattack, or PCA is a semi-collaborative effort of sheer idiocy, perpetrated on teh interbutts for our own sick amusement, with articles about gaming, pop culture/fad and anything we find funny.
Seriously, escape while you can.
Game of the Month: August

Last weekend we had a chance to stop by the newly invigorated Classic Gaming Expo – a glorification of everything retro, retroesque or just plain classic in video gaming. Though this means we saw way more Pacman shirts then we normally do…

After checking my Twitter feed, I was suprised to see a cool little video over at Driph’s feed. It was a sweet video of a new vertical shooter for one of my favorite arcade system, the Neo-Geo MVS. Hot Dog! The game is called Fast Striker and is currently developed my NG: Dev.Team, the makers of Last Hope, a shooter that was originally developed for the Neo-Geo AES & Neo-Geo CD (and eventually ported to the Dreamcast).
Fast Strikers looks gorgeous with the sweet scaling sprites and 3D effects that really looks amazing on that old tech. Even though the shooter is displayed on a horizontal screen position, the gameplay looks fast and frantic for a bullet hell shump, something the MVS library lacks. I’m really excited to play a new game on my Neo-Geo cab. No word yet on price. Here’s hoping the MVS kit will be less than $200. (Fingers crossed)

So it looks like SNK Playmore will finally get around to finishing King of Fighters XII.It will be released on the Taito Type X2 arcade hardware and should look like the previous game. Here’s hoping for a complete game this time around and a fixed online mode. Whatever happens, this game WILL NOT be a day [...]
The Neo-Geo restoration adventure continues. I finally received my new convex buttons from Happ Controls and also picked up a nifty little solder mate: the proverbial third hand. Installing the buttons would have been a breeze but I soon realized that I was missing all of the joystick & buttons wires from the MVS harness.
It looks [...]
This week we are touching on a topic that is near and dear to Jango’s heart: Arcade collecting.
Jedah Doma, Decepticreep, Jangofatt and Baldy touch on our home arcade memories from Jango’s first crappy machine to the short run with NFL Blitz to the groups current love for SNK’s MVS setup. Decepticreep lightly touches on the age-old comparison of American joysticks vs. Japanese sticks. Learn about how JAMMA (Japan Amusement Machinery Manufacturers Association) standardized the arcade industry while also condemning them to mediocrity and Jango goes on and on about his love of the MVS (Multi Video System) setup. Hopefully, there are some interesting tidbits of info on how to start your own personal arcade machine on the cheap while learning about which popular boards have suicide batteries. Of course we touch on the advantages and disadvantages of having a personal arcade and why Decepticreep wants Jango to build him a SuperGun and why Jango hates Neo-Geo ports.
We hope you find this episode informative enough for you to start your own home arcade.

Okay. after taking about 6 months off on this project, I decided to finally get off my ass and finish it up. Within those months, I re-sanded the red sides and painted them at least three times. Not being happy with the results, I switched over to oil based paint and bought better rollers, which made [...]
So there is a new Metal Slug game and it’s on the PSP. The ratio is fucked and there is a weird border but who cares, the game looks better than the DS version AND it supports co-op. The bigger question I have is this: why in the hell haven’t any of the other [...]
This week on Pinecade, we at Pineconeattack proudly present to you: Crossed Swords for the Neo-Geo by Alpha Denshi (1991).
Beat ‘em Up Mondays was a great name but we felt it really limited on the wide variety of games we can play for this type of a show. Since these vids are for Pineconeattack.com, Pinecade [...]
So this week we took some time to discuss the merits and detriments of all the excess crap we accumulate when we’re start buying video game peripherals. If you have a chance feel free to add to our list of horrible crap. And yes we totally forgot to cover all the crappy dancing pads that have [...]

Welcome to Bipolar Review.
Bipolar Review exists only for games that are so polarizing that one simple review is not enough to contain the emotions. The formula is simple, one person, who absolutely loved the game, will write down his thoughts about the game that brought him so much joy while his polar reviewing opposite will discuss why the game is absolute shite. We feel this will give a full circle review on a title and also exposing every gamers personal bias, because here at Pineconeattack! we understand: Everyone is (bias)ed (or at least two of us).
