Game of the Month: August

Pinekast 80: GOTM: Jade(d) Empire

It’s that time for some Kung-Fu chop saki action for the Xbawks & PC.

Yep, it’s the GOTM show for Jade Empire. Due to Baldy not being available to record the 79thn episode of the Pinekast, Tenno decided to push back the GOTM show and record another amazing show on Monday. I spend the next several days hacking away at this show to finally reveal the shiny gem inside.

In this week’s show we discuss how I completed a seven hour power session and was able to beat the game. So after the “what you’ve been playing” segment, the show pretty much was reduced to the Baldy & Jango show with a sprinkle of Tenno here and there. Not wanting to belittle the other members, but fuck them. They didn’t finish the game!

Mwahahahaha!

Hey, let me enjoy this very rare moment. It’s not every month that I’m able to beat a damn GOTM game, especially an RPG!

Decepticreep was unable to make it onto the show because this week he was waiting for a very special person to enter into this fantastic world. Fast forward to today: Decepticreep and his lovely wife finally had their baby today.

For the record, I decided to dedicate this episode to my newest niece, Lucy. (Would that make her a Decpeticreep-ette?) Because one day, with the wisdom and guidance of Decepticreep and some help from myself, Lucy will hopefully learn to appreciated the finer things in life like long power sessions just so you can complain about a 5 year old game with some friends on a fake radio show or at very least learn to love cartridges. Yeah… :/

Anyways, Jade Empire.

It’s a half finished mess by Bioware. It don’t hate it but I don’t exactly love it either. By very definition it’s mediocre.

Whatever.

Join Jangofatt, Tenno, Baldy, Jedah Doma and a very special guest for our dissection as we enter the fictitious world of Jade Empire.

Yeah, I love this fucking site and if you are reading this, I think you fucking rock as well.

PCA vs. CGE!

Last weekend we had a chance to stop by the newly invigorated Classic Gaming Expo – a glorification of everything retro, retroesque or just plain classic in video gaming. Though this means we saw way more Pacman shirts then we normally do…

Quick Hits:NOT ENOUGH TIME IN THE DAY! Blaming GOTM…

This is the reason why I fucking hate doing RPGs for GOTM. I always have to cram at the end of the month and I don’t have time time play games that I really want to play, watch more Dr Who or at very least do articles. So here’s a quick run down of  topics I find interesting.

Game of the Month: Stranglehold

The sequel to John Woo’s Hard Boiled, Stranglehold is actually our first current generation game for the Game of the Month. There will be no pretension with this game. It’s all about shooting everything that moves and a few hundred watermelons. This month is all about so good old fashion arcade shooting fun, or so I’ve been told. You see, I don’t know jack about this game but the one thing I do know is that the game is cheap, like less than $10 cheap.

What I’m most excited about in the next GOTM show is to hear another lame excuse from Tenno on why he couldn’t play this month’s game. Oh, I just can’t wait for that hilarity to ensue.

[via Wikipedia]

Stranglehold, or John Woo Presents Stranglehold, is a third-person shooter developed by Midway Games’ Chicago studio, released in late 2007 for Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. It is Midway’s first game to use Unreal Engine 3, and was developed in collaboration with John Woo.

Stranglehold is the sequel to Woo’s 1992 Hong Kong action film, Hard Boiled, and stars Chow Yun-Fat in a reprisal of his role as hard-boiled cop Inspector “Tequila” Yuen. Stranglehold is the first project on which Woo and Chow have collaborated since Hard Boiled.

Game of the Month: Psychonauts

Atten’ hut!

The members of PCA have voted and this month’s zany adventure will be a Psychonauts, a crazy game created by none other than Tim Schafer who worked on classic adventure games like Maniac Manson, Day of the Tentacle, The Monkey Island series and Grim Fandango.

Gather up the courage and prepare for the grueling training and [...]

How To Make Left 4 Dead 200,000 Times More Terrifying

What does it take to do that?  Replacing zombie sounds with the voice of Randy “Macho Man” Savage.

Left 4 Dead Survival Pack Will Be Free for PC & Xbox Live.

I don’t know how I should act since I was so prepared to go on a Decepticreep-size-tirade about Microsoft fucking shitting on the gamers and developers being our friend and continue with a predictable horde size pun about zombie ass fucking the little guys and conclude with ramblings about nothing I know about, but [...]

Dead Rising 2 Confirmed

Ah Dead Rising…

The game that tricked me into high definition gaming with promises of hordes of zombies and a sandbox environment for me to play in only to have my dream game snatched away from me with forced time limits, annoying escort missions and of course Otis. Fuck you Otis!

I never finished the [...]
