Pineconeattack, or PCA is a semi-collaborative effort of sheer idiocy, perpetrated on teh interbutts for our own sick amusement, with articles about gaming, pop culture/fad and anything we find funny. Seriously, escape while you can.

Game of the Month: August

Decepticreep: You’ve unlocked achievement ‘Baby Maker’!

A big gaming congrats to our own Decepticreep and his (patient) wife, who are now proud parents of a lovely daughter. Physical proof that you can be the nerdiest game collecting, Magic card playing, Transformer’s buying guy in the world with a heinous beard, and still get your tip wet.

Godspeed proud warrior!

PCA vs. CGE!

Last weekend we had a chance to stop by the newly invigorated Classic Gaming Expo – a glorification of everything retro, retroesque or just plain classic in video gaming. Though this means we saw way more Pacman shirts then we normally do…

Tenno goes to EVO… Day 2

HERE BE EVO!

So I went to EVO for about an hour.

Yup. Just one. And for a bunch of you, you’re probably all like, ‘Whoaaaaaa there Tenno! You were at the gaming Mecca of Las Vegas! You fricking live there even! WHAT THE! HELL!’

Hey baby, I’m a rolling stone. And by that I mean that even aside from all that awesome gaming on hand, I just am not that big of a fighting game guy to geek out properly at events like this. Literally I was melting the second I walked in -Hey Caesar’s Palace! A little A/C here! – and already ready to go. This shit just isn’t for me.

Pictured: Shit that isn't for me.

Weekend Wrap Up: UNO Bitches

I’m realizing that there just isn’t that one multiplayer game that the members of Pinekast can play with each other that doesn’t require a $60 investment/justification.  Xbox Live is pretty diluted when you are not playing online games with friends, which makes me more grateful for XBLA arcade games for being cheap and overall easy to [...]

Rocket Fizz: Making Sin City Sweeter, One Bottle At A Time.

RF

My work phone rings and I struggle to hear Decepticreep over the beginning of Modern Warfare 2, I hear him excited with joy and pure innocent exhilaration. Intrigued, I paused the game and listen closely.  “Dude I found this awesome place! I’ll be over in a few minutes.”  Curious, I waited for Decepticreep to arrive at my home. He handed me a bag of taffy quickly said,“Two words bro… Mexican Coke.” Before I can even process a silly drug reference, Decepticreep explained that he found a Soda Pop & Candy Store on the West side of town called: Rocket Fizz. Intrigued, I sat there and waited for the directions. Of course, right after recording the Pinekast, Decepticreep and I headed out on our sugary adventure for sugar cane soda and more taffy.

Weekend Wrap Up: BotCon ’09 Recap

botcon09-1

With little persuasion, Decepticreep convinced me to go with him to this year’s Botcon that was in Pasadena, Ca for the 25th Anniversary of Transformers. Good times ensued. Both of us were being cheap so the deal was, Decepticreep paid for the rooms while I had to pay for the fuel to get from Las Vegas to Pasadena. I sort of cheated.

For preparation of the trip, I traded in one of my best vehicles I’ve ever owned for a more fuel-efficient car. Yeah, Jango bought a hybrid; a Toyota Prius to be more precise and as far as efficient, I was able to make the trek on one tank of gas with plenty of fuel to spare while we were in Cali. I only had to fuel up once for the trip back home. Like I said, I cheated.

We arrived on Friday evening and settled in and recorded the Yoshi’s Island Special Pinekast in the hotel room. I was quite proud to actually have the complete cast in this episode. Tenno, Baldy, Ancient Flounder, Jedah Doma, Decepticreep and myself all met on Skype and were able to actually record the show on the road. So look for that real soon. After the show, it was time for bed. We had a big day ahead of us.

Weekend Wrap Up: Too Busy for Gaming

wekendtunes.jpg

Bit off more than I can chew this weekend. The crew gathered over at my place to record the 3rd episode of Pinekast and testing out the new pop screen. I’ve placed an order for a new high tech mic and hopefully we can get that up and running for next show, but for now we’re using old trust the Rock Band mic. At least I can pull the sock of the thing… Continue reading Weekend Wrap Up: Too Busy for Gaming

Weekend Wrapup: Busy busy busy…

It was another lovely & busy weekend over at the Pineconeattack fortress of awesomesauce. I was able to gather the writers together for a giant podcast of irrelevancy and after almost an hour of gaming ramblings, we concluded. Yeah, nothing too exciting expect that I gave Tenno the audio file to edit [...]

Weekend Wrap-up – Street Fighter A-Plenty (Edit!)

pcaweekendwrapup.png

Edit: Re-uploaded the cell phone videos, since I found a working conversion program.  They don’t look like absolute dog-shit anymore.  Enjoy!

Well, what I figured would occur did: my first match-up resulted in me getting creamed.  I could make excuses about how I was going up against tournament-level players and how Sagat is top-tier….and I’m going to do just that.  I’m terrible with names, but I did recognize a few folks who have attended EVO and several other major tournaments throughout the country.  Once I saw those faces popping up, I knew this wasn’t going to be easy at all.

Weekend Wrap Up: The Weekend with Jasper

So I’ve collected a nice stash of gift cards from Christmas and earned a few buck selling off my old PSP to afford my second Xbox 360. Was my first x360 dying? No, actually I’m starting to believe Tenno’s theory that I’m in the narrow 25% with a fully functional X360. So after work Friday and made the quick trip to Wal-Mart and cashed in my funny plastic representation of real money and picked a Jasper Xbox 360.
