Am I the only one who mixed up 'POS' in a 90s chat room?
I told someone their new website was POS thinking it meant Piece Of Success. They blocked me INSTANTLY before a friend clued me in it meant Parent Over Shoulder. Did slang ever land you in hot water back then?

Tbh people took chat room slang way too seriously back then. Getting blocked over a simple mix-up feels like someone taking things way too personal. It was just words on a screen, not a real insult.

Yeah the "Parent Over Shoulder" one got me too. I once told a guy he was a real "pro" in a gaming chat, not knowing it meant something completely different back then. Got a very angry whisper back before I figured it out.

Honestly Terry's "pro" story shows people were too quick to jump to anger lol. If someone called me a pro by mistake, I'd just laugh and correct them. Getting a "very angry whisper" over a slang mix-up feels like an overreaction, like they were looking for a fight. The whole point of chat rooms was to talk, not block people for honest mistakes.
