I thought the guy on the Delphi forum was lying about connecting two modems for double speed, then he mailed me a hand drawn diagram
Back in 1996 I called bunk on anyone claiming they ran two 28.8 modems at once on a home line, because my local ISP in Dayton told me it was impossible. A guy with the handle BootlegDan sent me a diagram in the mail showing how to bond two lines with a second phone jack, and sure enough the download speed doubled when I tried it that Sunday. Did anyone else here actually get shotgunning to work, or did your phone company shut you down for tying up two lines?

Got shotgunning working in late 97 after reading a similar writeup, but my second line kept getting flagged because the telco's billing system didn't know what to do with two simultaneous dialups from one house. What was BootlegDan's trick for keeping the line from dropping when the modem on line two lost sync mid download? Curious if he had you set the modems to different init strings or if the plain ATZ setup was enough for you.
