Idk why people mock my AOL keyword searches, but they turned me into a quick learner.

I used to hunt for game cheats using AOL keywords in the mid-90s. Everyone says it was primitive, but I got good at finding what I needed fast. Did you develop any odd skills from early online habits?

Pretty sure we just called them keywords, not searches.

Back when I worked at a bookstore, we tracked what people actually asked for. Searches were the full questions, like "that blue book about a dog I saw last week." Keywords were what we wrote down later, just "dog book blue cover." It helped us see the gap between how customers think and how the system works. Training staff to listen for those full searches improved our recommendations a lot. It's the same online now, people type whole sentences, not just perfect keywords.
