Just realized my GeoCities fan page got 1,000 visitors and I printed the counter to prove it
Honestly, I nearly fell off my chair last week when the little hit counter on my X-Files fan page rolled past 1,000. I started that page in the spring of 1998 on my parents' Packard Bell, and for months it was just me and maybe my friend Dana from school. Then somebody linked it from a webring, and the number started climbing about 40 a day. I refreshed the page so many times I'm surprised the modem didn't burn out. I even printed the counter and taped it in my school binder next to my Mulder and Scully trading cards. Tbh it's a silly little page with a star background and a MIDI file that takes forever to load, but it felt huge at the time. Did anyone else keep a little notebook of their site's guestbook entries, or was that just me?
