My 1998 Napster marathon gave me a busy signal masterpiece

I remember trying to get the new Smashing Pumpkins track off Napster, like, forever ago. Our dial-up was so slow, I left it running all night, praying no one picked up the phone. Woke up super excited, hit play, and it was just the sound of a dial tone, idk, maybe for ten minutes straight. I mean, part of me was mad, but mostly I just laughed at how absurd it was. Classic 90s internet, right?

Didn't some people collect those weird mislabeled downloads as art?

Oh, collecting those weird mislabeled downloads as art! I actually saved a bunch of messed up movie clips from early streaming days. It worked for me because I loved the surprise of finding a comedy scene labeled as drama. I sorted them into a folder called "digital accidents" and it felt like curating my own exhibit!

But I always found those mislabels just annoying. They messed up my movie nights when I'd download something expecting one genre and get another. It felt more like a tech problem than something artistic to me.
