My GeoCities page took 45 minutes to load and then crashed my whole computer

Back in 1997 I was trying to download this animated glitter cursor from a GeoCities site called "Brenda's Bling Palace" or something like that. I was in my parents' basement on our dial-up, and after a full 3 hours of waiting I finally got the file. But when I clicked to install it, my whole Windows 95 machine froze up and I had to do a hard shutdown. Has anyone else ever bricked their computer just trying to get a sparkly star cursor?

Those animated cursors were like digital landmines back then.

Oh man, tell me about it! I remember spending a whole weekend trying to get this rainbow trail cursor and my cousin's old Packard Bell just gave up and blue screened on me. Those glitter files were cursed, they'd look so cool in the preview but then fry your whole system like a bad batch of ramen.
