Found a 1999 site that still has a working guestbook, people signed it last in 2002.

Everyone calls guestbooks dead, but this one for a small town in Oregon still takes entries. I added my name yesterday and it posted fine, just like it was 20 years ago. How many other old sites still have working forms we just stopped using?

Forget guestbooks, they're basically broken time capsules. Most old forms just dump your data into a dead email address or a database nobody checks. It's not a real connection, it's just digital litter on a server that should have been turned off years ago.

Yeah, the "digital litter" part really hits home. @lee.cole It reminds me of this old family website my aunt made, and the guestbook is just pages of "nice site!" from 2004. It feels sad, like a party where everyone left but the lights are still on. Makes you wonder what we're building now that will just feel like empty cans on the side of the road in twenty years.

Some were actually printed out and kept.
