Found an old bike repair forum from 2005 that still loads

I was trying to fix a stuck seatpost on my 90s Schwinn last weekend and stumbled across a forum called BikeFixer.net. It looked like it hadn't been updated since maybe 2008 but the thread had a guy named 'wrench57' who said to use a mix of ATF and acetone instead of WD-40. I tried it and the seatpost came loose in about 20 minutes after three days of fighting with it. Anyone else ever found a random old forum post that actually saved them money or time on a fix?

Used to think old internet advice was mostly junk from people who didn't know what they were talking about, but that ATF and acetone trick is now my go to for any stuck metal on metal.

50/50 mix sitting for 48 hours on a seized brake caliper bolt, that stuff actually bubbled out and the bolt turned by hand. I felt like a magician but my garage smelled like a chemical spill for a week. My wife came down asking if I was cooking meth, which honestly isn't far off from how some of these concoctions feel.
