My friend argued that abandoned sites are digital litter, not history
We were looking at a 1998 site for a defunct Chicago record store, complete with a guestbook. I called it a cool time capsule. He said it's just broken links and wasted server space that should be cleared. He thinks if no one owns it, it's clutter. I see them as public archives, even the ugly ones. Where do you stand on preserving versus cleaning up the old web?

Read an article about the Wayback Machine saving old sites, it made me see them as a library not a landfill. Your friend's take is practical but man, losing that stuff feels like erasing memories. Those broken guestbooks are where people left a mark.
