My old homelab server finally gave up the ghost last Tuesday

Been running a little HP ProLiant from 2011 for years as my NAS and media box. Tuesday it just wouldn't boot. Power on, fans spin, then nothing. Turns out the motherboard capacitors finally blew. I spent an afternoon swapping in an old Dell Optiplex I had in the garage. Anyone else had a random old server just die on them with no warning?

Oh man, that sucks. A buddy of mine had his old Synology NAS just die mid-movie night with zero warning, took out all his Plex metadata with it lol.

Respectfully, I kinda see it the other way. That Synology probably gave years of solid service before it crapped out, most consumer electronics just die randomly after a few years. Sucks about the Plex metadata though, that's the real kicker.
