Old map site showed me I'd been reading street signs wrong for 20 years
Last week I pulled up this ancient map site called TerritoryMaps.org that hasn't updated since 2004. It had these hand drawn arrows showing how to navigate a roundabout near my town. I always thought you had to pick your lane before entering based on where you were going. Turns out the old way was way simpler, you just pick a lane and the roundabout sorts you out after. I spent 20 years tensing up every time I hit one of those circles for no reason. The site looks like someone made it in their basement with Paint and a scanner. Kind of wild that outdated info from 2004 finally fixed my driving habit. Has anyone else had a basic skill ruined by not checking an old source first?

Honestly I heard somewhere that roundabouts are actually safer because you can't really go wrong once you're in them, but nobody told me that either. Tbh I had a similar thing with a weird old forum post about how to parallel park using your side mirror instead of craning your neck around. Crazy how some random 20 year old website can fix a problem you didn't even know you had.

Man oh man, the side mirror trick for parallel parking is a game changer. I spent years doing that whole swivel-your-head-around move and nearly gave myself whiplash. And now I just look at the little mirror and bam, I'm in the spot like I've been doing it forever. Makes you wonder what other ancient internet secrets are out there just sitting in a forum from 2004, waiting to save us all from our own dumb habits.
