PSA: that GeoCities fan page for a dead band loads faster than most sites I use now, and I think the plain HTML is why

Found a page on a guys Angelfire account from 1999 that still loads in under a second on my phone, no ads, no cookie popup, nothing. Meanwhile the newer fan wiki for the same band takes 6 seconds and eats 40MB just to show me a discography. Half of you will say old pages only feel faster because they do less, and the other half will say modern sites are just bloated junk, and honestly I keep flip flopping. Which side are you on, and does anyone have a bookmark that proves it either way?
