That old 1997 web ring site about extinct birds is still going
I found this dusty page last week that catalogs extinct birds with photos from museum archives, and the author just stopped updating it in 2005. The weird part is the info is actually solid, way better than some current Wikipedia articles I've checked. Anyone else stumble on a dead site that turned out more reliable than the modern stuff?

You ever notice how the stuff people put online for free, with no pay, no clicks, just because they cared, ends up outlasting the big sites? It's like that every time. Someone's old Geocities page about car repairs or a hobby blog from 2004 always has the real answers. The modern stuff is all ads and rewritten copy. It feels like we traded passion for polish. That bird site is probably a goldmine because he actually checked the museum records himself.
