AI writing assistants I was super skeptical of finally won me over
Honestly, I thought AI writing tools were just gonna pump out generic nonsense that nobody would want to read. I run a small fencing business and needed help drafting client proposal emails, so I gave one a shot about 3 months ago. The first few tries were rough, it kept using words like 'utilize' and 'leverage' which I'd never say. But after tweaking the prompts to match my actual voice, it started cranking out decent drafts in under 2 minutes. Now I save about 45 minutes each week on emails alone, and my reply rate actually went up. Has anyone else had a similar flip where you hated an AI tool at first, then it clicked?

Read an article saying these tools work best when you treat them like a really fast intern who needs clear instructions.

Honestly, I used to hate that comparison and thought it was kind of dismissive. Like, I figured these things were supposed to read my mind or just get it right on the first try. But after a few months of fighting with bad outputs, I totally flip-flopped on this. Giving it super short, specific steps with bullet points in my prompt has saved me so much time, it's ridiculous. It's really just about figuring out what the thing needs from you to not go off the rails.
