Dropped $90 on an AI music generator, then my bandmate proved it useless

Honestly, I paid 90 bucks for a monthly subscription to one of those AI track makers, thinking it'd speed up our songwriting in Austin. The tool spit out decent loops, but my bandmate just showed up with a free open-source model that nailed the exact vibe we needed in 10 minutes. Now I'm stuck wondering if paid AI tools are ever worth it over the community versions, or if I just picked a lazy one. Has anyone else burned cash on an AI service only to find the free stuff does the job better?

Gasping over here, 90 bucks a month is insane for something your bandmate crushed with a free tool in 10 minutes. I've been burned before, but that's a whole different level of ouch. In my experience, the free open-source stuff is usually clunky but gets the job done, while the paid ones just add fancy bells and whistles you don't need. Take this with a grain of salt, but maybe you just paid for the convenience of not having to tinker with settings.
