Overheard a dev at a coffee shop in Austin say their new AI model can fake a whole voice call in under 10 seconds

He was talking about a project using a tool called VoiceLab, saying it's getting too easy to clone anyone's voice from a short clip. The scary part was him saying the fake audio could pass a basic security check. How are we even supposed to trust a phone call anymore? Has anyone else seen this tech in the wild, or know of a good way to spot a deepfake call?

Wait, you're telling me this is already happening? My buddy got a call last week that sounded exactly like his boss asking for an urgent wire transfer. The voice had that same slight cough and everything, it was creepy. He almost fell for it but called the office direct and found out it was fake. Now I'm paranoid every time the phone rings, how do you even fight something that good?

It's like we can't trust our own ears anymore.
