PSA: AI image upscalers finally work well enough for old family photos

I used to think AI upscaling was all hype until a neighbour showed me a restored photo of her grandma from 1947 using Remini. The detail on the lace collar was wild, not all smeary like I expected. Has anyone else had good luck with a specific upscaler for fixing old prints?

Why would you want fake details added to a real memory?

I get what you're saying about "fake details," but I see it more like cleaning a dirty window than adding something that wasn't there. The upscaler just pulls out details that were already in the photo, they were just buried under years of fading and grain. For me, it's about getting a clearer look at the memory, not making up a new one.
