Switched from cloud AI to local models after one bad bill

I was paying about $80 a month for API calls with this image generator, but last week it made 3,000 requests on its own due to a loop bug (nobody's fault, just a dumb mistake on my part). I grabbed a used RTX 3090 off eBay for $700 and ran Stable Diffusion locally, and honestly the quality is just as good for my use case, plus no surprise charges. Has anyone else hit a bill spike that pushed them to go local, and did you stick with it?
