Took me 4 hours to set up an AI transcription tool last night

I was trying to get Whisper to turn my 45 minute nursing shift notes into text (you know, for logging stuff after a long night). Figured it would be a quick 20 minute install but the Python dependencies kept breaking on my old laptop from 2021. After digging through three forum threads and a GitHub issue from last March, I finally got it running around 3 AM. Has anyone else hit that wall where the setup takes way longer than the actual task?

Yeah, Docker saved my butt on that exact same thing.

oh man, my buddy tried setting up an old Sphinx voice-to-text thing for his podcast notes and spent all night chasing dependencies too. he finally got it working around 4 AM and then realized he could have just typed the whole thing in 15 minutes flat. it's like the universe punishes you for trying to be efficient sometimes.
