Tried a $25 mic and a free app for voice notes, the free one won

I started using AI transcription for my client walkthroughs last month and picked the free Whisper setup over a $99/yr app, mostly because the paid one butchered every street name. Anyone else find the free tools beating the paid ones lately, or did I just get lucky with my accent?
