Ceiling panel clips held my safety wire for 5 years, discovered why that was stupid

Was replacing a blower motor on an MD-80 in Tulsa last month and realized my wire was routed through a clip that was holding a ceiling panel, not an actual structural tie-down, so how do you guys decide when a mount point is legit or just decorative?

Five years is a solid run, so maybe it wasn't that stupid. If it held that long, who cares if it was "structural" or not, long as you checked it once in a while.
