Found a weird fix for a sticky flap actuator on a King Air
We had one that would hang up in the cold, and the book just said to replace the whole unit. On a hunch, I tried flushing the worm gear with a light spray of LPS 2 and working it by hand for about 15 minutes. It's been smooth for three months now, but has anyone else had luck with a similar trick or is this just asking for trouble?

Man, that book answer of "just replace it" is so typical, right? Good on you for trying something else first.

We used a drop of light oil on the jackscrew of a 172's trim tab that was binding. It bought us another year before we had to swap it.
