That stat about how many parts come from a single supplier got me thinking

I was reading a trade report last week and saw 70% of certain engine components come from just one company, which honestly blew my mind considering how we used to swap parts from three different brands back in the 90s. Has anyone else noticed the supply chain getting narrower like that, or is it just me?

Wait, am I the only guy still stockpiling parts from three different brands in his garage like some kind of weirdo hoarder? I've got a whole shelf of mismatched stuff that'll probably never fit anything I own, but at least I feel prepared for the apocalypse.

Is your garage also somehow the most organized room in the house? I swear my mismatched collection of random screws and brackets has its own weird sort of logic, even if nothing actually lines up. My husband keeps asking why I have three different sized wrenches for the same bolt. I just tell him it's called being thorough, not hoarding. It's a survival skill at this point.
