Wasted 8 hours on a timing issue that was just a bad ground strap

Spent my whole Saturday chasing a timing fluctuation on a 737. Swapped sensors, checked the ECU, even pulled the harness. After all that, it was a corroded ground strap between the engine and the airframe. Cost me nothing to fix but lost a whole day of labor. Anyone else get burned by something stupid simple like that?

Good grief, ain't that the truth? I spent a whole afternoon once chasing a no-start on an old Honda, swapped out the distributor, coil, the whole nine yards. Turned out to be a 50 cent ground strap that was basically rust dust. Makes you feel like a real rocket scientist, doesn't it? My old man always said to check the cheap stuff first, but I guess I gotta learn that one the hard way every few years. Hope your Saturday wasn't a total loss, at least you got a good story out of it.

Bet the factory worker who stripped that bolt out saved 10 cents.
