A 2003 office park in Tampa taught me to always check the phone lines first
Back when I was starting out, I got called to a site where every panel in the building kept throwing comm errors. I spent a whole morning swapping out boards and checking power supplies. Turns out the telco box outside had a loose pair that only showed up under load. That took me down a rabbit hole for 4 hours and cost the customer $350 in labor that wasn't needed. These days I test the line with a butt set before I even open my tools. Has anyone else gotten burned by assuming the wiring was solid and skipping the basics?
