Customer asked me to skip the tamper switch on their store alarm, now I flip out every time I see one bypassed

Tbh I used to just wire tamper switches however was fastest. Two months ago I did an install for a busy smoke shop in Columbus and the owner straight up told me "don't bother with the tamper, nobody touches that panel." So I skipped it. Next week someone popped the cover and messed with the zone wiring, alarm never went off. Lost the whole system and the guy blamed me even though he asked for it. He didn't pay the last $400 either. Now I always install the tamper, even if they say skip it. I put it in and let them argue with me about it. Has anyone else had a customer push back on something small like that and it came back to bite you later? Which side do you take, easy install or doing it right and eating the hassle?

Did the customer pay at least teach you that lesson faster than mine did?
