Finally got that stubborn motion sensor to stop false alarming
Had a Honeywell DT900A in a garage that kept tripping from insects getting in the lens after about a month of install. I tried a tiny bead of silicone around the seams and its been solid for 6 weeks now. Has anyone else dealt with bugs setting off PIRs in garages or basements?

Hate to say it but I think the silicone fix is just gonna trap moisture in there long term and cause other issues. Those DT900s have breathable vents for a reason, bugs aside. I'd rather deal with a quick dust off every month than risk fogging up the lens from condensation building up inside. Worked on a few of these in basements and garages and the silicone always came back to bite people later.

Wait what, you seriously think moisture is gonna build up in there with a tiny bead of silicone? These things are IP41 rated usually, they're not exactly sealed tight even with the vents. My DT900 in the basement has had silicone on it for almost a year now and the lens is crystal clear. I literally pulled it down last week to clean the cobwebs around it and zero condensation inside. That old school vent design lets in more dust than anything else honestly.
