Got called out for my wire runs in a Boston brownstone job

The homeowner was an old electrician who pointed at my work and said, 'Kid, you're making a rat's nest for the next guy.' He showed me how to bundle with velcro every 18 inches and leave a 6-inch service loop at the panel. I used to just zip-tie everything tight and trim. Now I do it his way on every install. How do you guys handle clean wire management in those tight historic homes?

Read somewhere that service loops save hours on future repairs.

That "shook his head" move is my default setting too.

My buddy Mike had a similar thing happen in a Philly row house last year. The old plumber on site saw his pipes and just shook his head... showed him how to strap the lines with a little extra slack for settling. Mike said it changed how he does every job now.
