Had a customer scream at me for 10 minutes in Phoenix last Tuesday
She insisted her $99 wireless door sensor from Walmart was just as good as the wired ones I installed. Any of you guys run into people fighting you on equipment quality after they've already bought junk?

Customers like that are the reason I started taking photos of the insides of cheap sensors when I swap them out. Show them the cold solder joints and the flimsy circuit board with components barely hanging on, then pull a new wired one open next to it. Usually shuts them up pretty quick when they see the difference with their own eyes. Had one guy still argue that his $99 ring alarm was smarter than my panel, but his system went down in a power flicker while mine stayed on battery for three days. How do you handle customers that think price equals quality just because it came from a big box store?

Oh hell yeah, @jason_fisher4 you nailed it. The photo trick is brilliant because it takes the guesswork out of it. I do something similar but I bring a cheap multimeter and show them the voltage drop on those cheap sensors when the battery gets low. The big box store stuff is designed to look good on a shelf, not last in a wall. Once they see the actual wiring mess inside those things, most of them shut up real fast. The ones that still argue are usually just embarrassed they got sold on the shiny box.
