I always cut alarm demos short. Then a guy I installed for last year called to say it stopped a break-in.

My cousin's shop got cleaned out because the new system never got fully explained. The installer rushed the demo and my cousin never learned how to arm it properly overnight. A proper walk through takes maybe ten extra minutes but it locks the routine into the customer's head. Skipping it to save time just means the gear becomes a fancy decoration. If you're going to put the hardware in, you owe it to the client to show them how it actually works.

Wait they got cleaned out... just because the demo got rushed? That gear really is just a fancy box if nobody shows you how to use it.
