Just learned that 70% of false alarm calls happen because of user error, not equipment failure

I was reading through some stats from a 2023 security industry report and it blew my mind. They looked at over 10,000 alarm dispatches and found that most false triggers were from people forgetting codes or propping doors. Only like 12% were due to bad sensors or wiring mistakes we make as installers. It makes me think we should spend more time training end users during walkthroughs. Do you guys do anything special to reduce false alarms from your customers?

Those 70% numbers make me wonder, do you guys charge customers a fee after a certain number of false alarms?

The 70% figure came from a local security company's report last year. They charged a $50 fee after the third false alarm in a six month period. I had a buddy who got hit with that fee twice before he finally got his motion sensors adjusted properly. It seems like a lot of companies are doing that now just to cover the cost of sending someone out.
