Just swapped from a 4-wire to a 6-wire keypad for a client's panel upgrade.

The extra two conductors meant I could run a dedicated trouble output and a second zone input right from the keypad location, saving me a whole extra cable pull back to the main board. Anyone have a favorite 6-wire keypad model for retrofit jobs?

What's your go-to brand for those 6-wire pads? I did the same thing on a Vista upgrade last month. Using the extra wires for a zone input saved me from fishing a new cable through a finished basement ceiling. It's such a clean solution.

Actually saw a forum post last week where someone used the extra wires on a 6-conductor for a keypad zone too. They hooked it up to a spare door contact on a patio slider. It's one of those tricks that feels obvious after you see it, but saves so much time. Makes you wonder why more panels don't just ship with 6-wire as the default for zones.

Agree totally, that extra wire trick is a lifesaver.
