Pro tip: A simple stretch routine saved my back on attic runs
In my experience, skipping a warm-up before climbing into an attic is a sure way to hurt yourself. I do ten lunges and some torso twists, and it makes a big difference in how I feel after a day of bending over panels. Your mileage may vary, but I've seen coworkers strain muscles from not preparing. Take this with a grain of salt, but try it next time you're on a ladder.

Static stretches before climbing into an attic might not be the best idea. Dynamic warm-ups like leg swings or light jogging in place work better to get ready. Lunges can be part of it, but holding stretches cold can risk pulls. Try moving around a bit first, then do your routine. Learned that the hard way after a tweaked shoulder.

Totally agree with @the_david about moving first. I used to just hold a hamstring stretch and it did nothing. Now I do a quick lap around the truck, some arm circles, then go into the lunges. It gets the blood flowing before you ask your body to twist into those tight spaces. The static stuff is better for after the work is done, in my opinion. Starting cold is just asking for trouble.
